Abel Carlevaro (1916-2001)

Preludios Americanos, Campo
Richard Jacobowski

Abel Carlevaro was a celebrated composer and teacher of the classical guitar. A native of Uruguay, his compositions reflect his deep understanding and love of the music of the Americas. This preludio is lyrical, with a wonderful theme centered around a perfect fifth. I played these preludes for Maestro Carlevaro many years ago in New York; his insights on music and guitar technique were inspiring.
